Hey loves!

When my mother booked my flight to Hong Kong, the extradition bill had not even been put forward and there was no reason to believe that I would end up in Hong Kong while some of its biggest protests would take place. By the time I boarded my flight, the controversial bill had been put forward and people had already started protesting against it. Since I have been here, the amount of protests per week has increased and the police and protestors have clashed more and more often. Yesterday, thousands...

Hey loves!

Hong Kong had its first typhoon 8 signal today (which basically means stay inside or get wet). Rainy days like these are the days where my addiction to bookstores comes in handy. I read three books over the past few days and I would love to share my thoughts on them with you:

The Unwinding of the Miracle

Are you ready to cry? Because I can assure you that this book will make you cry. I was about forty pages into the book and it had already broken my heart three times. In The Unwinding of the Miracle*...

Hey loves!

I was initially planning to publish a blog post about a book I read, but publishing this post now simply did not feel right. My cousin and I travelled to Hong Kong together last week and we are planning to spend a few weeks here as a summer vacation. As many of you know, I went to a boarding school in Hong Kong from 2016 to 2018 and I became very attached to the city. I have made some of the strongest friendships while I lived here, grew up a lot (though unfortunately not in physical size), learned...

Hey loves!

Do you know these moments when you are standing in front of your wardrobe and you are thinking about how others would perceive a particular outfit? Whether they might judge you for it? Whether the outfit really matches the occasion? I know these moments all too well and I often regret not having worn the outfit I really liked.

One of the things that I love about my friend Alex is that she simply wears whatever she wants to wear. Her outfits reflect confidence and self-awareness and that is why I ask...

Hey loves!

My peers and I have two weeks of exams left! I wrote my mathematics exam this week and I will write my other five exams in the next two weeks. It is sort of nerve-wracking to think about it but I am also excited to put everything I learned in the past two years to use.

I am incredibly grateful for all the support I received my friends and family over the past weeks while I was preparing for my exams. One person who was especially supportive for me is celebrating her birthday today - my aunt! She hel...

Hey loves!

From Sunday to Tuesday, some of my peers and I attended HKMUN 2018. HKMUN is Hong Kong's biggest Model United Nations (MUN) conference. It was my first time attending the conference and I was stunned to see so many MUN students participate in one conference.

We attended HKMUN just one week after we held our own conference, LPCMUN. Our conference was organised solely by the students from our MUN QC. As one of the leaders of the QC, I had put a lot of time into our conference and it was definitely wor...

Hey loves!

Our school's Chinese Cultural Evening was this Saturday and the performances were impressive. The Chinese Cultural Evening is traditionally the final cultural evening of the school year and it happens every year (in contrast to all other cultural evenings which happen every two years). Given that it was this cultural evening took place only one week after our mock exams, I was surprised to see so many second years involved in it. The second years dragon and lion dance teams took their skills to a ne...

Hey loves!

Over my Chinese New Year break, I have had some free time to explore a few poems. One of my friends recommended some spoken word poetry channels on YouTube to me and I loved them! i decided to share some of the poems with you guys because I found them truly moving and relevant to our lives. Many of them relate to the topic mental health and I found it amazing how much is shared on this topic on the internet. It is a topic that we also widely discuss at our boarding school since the thought of taking...

Hey loves!

Last week, one of LPC's cultural groups organised a cultural evening for the whole school. The Caribbean and Latin-American Cultural Evening (CLACE) took place on Saturday evening and it was an incredible experience. They started the event in our canteen with self-made food for the whole school. We then moved to the assembly hall and watched their well-planned performance. The cultural group managed to combine both the beautiful sides of their countries with reports about issues in their countries....

Hey loves!

Stanford Summer Session recently uploaded this video in which some of my peers and I shared some of our thoughts on our summer experience at Stanford! My summer at Stanford was one of the best experiences of my life and I definitely enjoyed being there and getting a college experience.

The applications for Stanford's summer session are open now and you can find more information about the program here. I would highly encourage everyone to give it a shot and try to get in. There is also a limited...
