Hey loves!

"Staycation" is the new motto of the holiday season. My family and I will not be going away at all this summer, but books, movies, and TV shows are great places to escape to for a little bit here and there. Some books and movies have literally made me forget the world around me for a short while.

Sometimes, the end of a movie/TV show or book may be the end, but it does not feel like the end for a character. Do you sometimes wonder how they are doing after this short glimpse you got into their l...

Hey loves!

I have officially completed my first full week in quarantine and it has been (surprisingly) good so far. To my own surprise, this has actually been a really productive time for me. You guys helped me a lot to get back on track with my revision (yep, Cambridge is not cancelling exams) by joining my live study with me sessions - thank you to everyone who joined them! If you would like to join them next week, I am streaming them on my YouTube channel from 7am to 11am and from 12pm to 3pm UK time on we...

Hey loves!

I am currently reading Cleo Wade's Heart Talk* (thanks to one of my lovely friends who got me the book as a gift) and this one quote stuck out to me:

Clean out your thoughts -

they have the power to cover

your entire life in dirt.

When I was younger, I was quite shy and I guess it was mostly due to my insecurities and not feeling 'good enough.' Over the years, I have realised that everyone has their insecurities, but most of us try not to talk about them as if that would make them go away. Writing thi...

Hey loves!

It has been quite a while since I last wrote a post on here. I have not forgotten about this blog, but whenever I write a post, I want to take my time writing it and reflecting on the things I write about. The past few weeks were very busy and so I decided to take a little break from writing this blog in order to make sure that my posts stay reflective and that I enjoy writing them. Cambridge tends to get very busy around mid-term time since that is the time when much work is due.

Although the past...

Hey loves!

A few weeks ago, I first came across the trailer for the TV show "Speechless" on YouTube and I immediately knew that I would have to watch this show! I just had to know how the life of this incredible family would continue throughout the show.

I finished the first season of the show a few days ago and I am so grateful that I watched it (season two, I'm coming!). What I love so much about this show is the way it deals with the disability of one of the characters - the show is not shy to use humour bu...

Hey loves!

Hong Kong had its first typhoon 8 signal today (which basically means stay inside or get wet). Rainy days like these are the days where my addiction to bookstores comes in handy. I read three books over the past few days and I would love to share my thoughts on them with you:

The Unwinding of the Miracle

Are you ready to cry? Because I can assure you that this book will make you cry. I was about forty pages into the book and it had already broken my heart three times. In The Unwinding of the Miracle*...

Hey loves!

I have a few poems saved in a folder in the cloud so I can revisit them whenever I feel like it. Poems that make it to that folder are poems that have moved me in some way or another. I first started reading poetry in my German classes in high school and I did not really like it. Poets were telling the truth in riddles and hid behind metaphors and I had a hard time understanding them. But my teacher made it feel like a treasure hunt that could only be solved by going through every line with utmost c...

Hey loves!

Do you know these movies and books that you watch or read and that occupy your thoughts days and sometimes even weeks after finishing them? The movie disFigured was one of these movies for me. The movie explores how we, and especially women, see themselves and how our size can affect our lives. The movie does this through following the exceptional friendship between a recovering anorexic and a woman trying to foster acceptance for overweight people like herself.

Before I go on to give you my take on...

Hey loves!

Yesterday, I came across the trailer of "Killing Eve"* on YouTube and I knew I had to watch the show. I immediately checked whether I could buy it online but the German iTunes Store unfortunately does not sell the show yet and Netflix does not have it yet (*cries on the inside*). So I went out to my local DVD store and got it. I was hooked immediately and ended up binge-watching the entire season in one sitting. It was worth it.

If you have not had a look at the trailer yet or it has been a whi...

Hey loves!

I have recently read a book that gave me goose bumps with each chapter I read and I just had to share it with you all! B.A. Paris' Behind Closed Doors* is a true masterpiece that makes you wonder about what is going on until the final page. I found it hard to come up with a good summary, so let me start with the text on the book's back:

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace.

He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance.

You might not want to like them, but you do.

You'd like to get to kn...
