A Court of Thorns and Roses
"'I love you,' I said, and stabbed him."
Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses
Hey loves!
In all honesty, this quote alone would be enough to make me pick up A Court of Thorns and Roses. I actually started reading it because a lot of you guys recommended the book to me and honestly, you guys did not disappoint! A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first book in a series and I just finished reading book three and I love the series so far! It is a YA fantasy and romance series and is really well written.
The story takes place in a fantasy world where humans co-exist with faeries. But unlike the kind faeries you may remember from childhood stories, the faeries are known for being evil and making had actually gone to war against them at one point. The result of the conflict's settlement is a massive, magical wall that keeps the faerie realm from the human realm. The human protagonist Feyre kills a faerie which roams the woods near the border and ends up in the faerie realm because of it. But once she is there, she realises that the faeries are far from the evil creatures she made them out to be. But there is something as evil as she imagined the faeries to be - and it is threatening not just the faerie realm, but also the human realm.
Honestly, the story did not really catch me in the beginning - I was not entirely sure whether I would like the book, but when you reach the second half, it becomes super suspenseful. And book two is super suspenseful all throughout! Book three is more like book two - off to a slower start, but it is worth it. I think book two has been the strongest book so far. I am really looking forward to reading the fourth book.
If you like fantasy, this series might be for you! When I mentioned that I am reading this series, many of you guys told me that I might also like the A Throne of Glass series by the same author. Since the A Court of Thorns and Roses recommendation was so good, I decided to trust your recommendation and ordered the entire A Throne of Glass series - it will arrive next week and I cannot wait to start it.
Time to start reading book four.
Lots of Love,
Elena
