The Gift

Hey loves!

I want to use today's article to share some beautiful writing by Rupi Kaur with you guys! I've read her book, milk and honey and it fascinated me! She is a very talented writer and when you read her book, you can't stop! The book reminded me a lot of the writing of Lang Leav (I wrote about her books in one of my first articles).

Rupi Kaur's poetry is shocking at some points and sensible at others. Reading through her book gives you an insight into a traumatised mind that grows and learns. The book gives you many lessons to think about and inspires you to let your mind wander a little bit every once in a while.

I love reading poetry before going to bed and to think about it while falling asleep. Try it out if you can - it has really helped me to fall asleep and not do anything else. And it gives your mind an inspiration for your dreams (that's why I always pick out poems that are positive). Her book is available on iTunes and in any normal bookshop - if you're searching for some new poetry to explore, read it!

To give you guys a little insight into what I mean by my description of the book, here's one written piece by Rupi Kaur. It's about the one gift we can give to anyone: Honest appreciation of who they are and not who they seem to be. It's about complementing someone's strengths and not our perception of this person:

i want to apologize to all the women

i have called pretty.

before i've called them intelligent or brave.

i am sorry i made it sound as though

something as simple as what you're born with

is the most you have to be proud of

when your spirit has crushed mountains

from now on i will say things like, you are resilient

or, you are extraordinary.

not because i don't think you're pretty.

but because you are so much more than that

-rupi kaur

I would highly recommend the book and hope that I could inspire some of you guys to read it!

Lots of Love,

Elena
