Essay after Essay
Apologies for not updating my blog for a while! The past days have been incredibly busy because deadline after deadline is coming for secondyears. I have already started writing my university applications and my first application is due on September 25. It's hard to believe that one year ago, I was walking around Hong Kong for the first time in my life and now I am already writing my applications to universities around the globe.
My top tip for applying to universities is to start as early as possible. I am applying as an early applicant to UK universities and as an early action applicant to one US university. If you want to be an early applicant as well, I would recommend starting your application over summer. I filled out all the general information in the applications over summer and taking this time over summer has saved me a lot of stress at the start of the school year!
I will also take the SAT in a few weeks and the preparatory work for this test is taking up most of my time in the moment. I am excited to apply to universities because there is something exciting to the process and I am looking forward to experiencing it. Although it is a lot of stress because I am an early applicant, I am happy that I took on the challenge of applying early because applying early guarantees earlier decisions (at least for US universities). Although applying to universities can be quite stressful, it is important to keep in mind that after all, it is just an application. Totally stressing out over it is not worth it and pressuring yourself too much will not change the admission decision.
I am grateful for my awesome roommates who give me the time I need to prepare my applications but who also cheer me up all the time! They moved in more than two weeks ago and I am so glad that these three awesome human beings became my roommates. All my roommates are positive people and it is pretty cool to be a second year who can help them with settling in at LPC.
Our extracurricular program will start next week and I am looking forward to getting to know all the students who decided to join my QCs (Quan Cais - this is the term LPC uses for its extracurricular activities). I am leading two QCs this year - yearbook and MUN. In addition to that, I am also still volunteering at Crossroads. I have re-started volunteering at Crossroads in the first week in which I returned to Hong Kong. Leading QCs will be a quite different experience than simply being a member and I believe that it will be challenging but I am also looking forward to see the work "behind the scenes" and to explore all the tasks that our amazing secondyears took on as QC leaders.
If you are in the process of writing your applications: good luck! I wish you all the best. I will update this blog less regularly until early October and then it will return to normal (I need to allocate some time to my university preparations).
Lots of Love,
